pain.
pain is a commodity.
And the price is high.
on the islands of Geveg there healer with a special gift. You can include the pain of other people, and it derived in a rare metal. For this material valuable weapons to be forged. Nya
The girl is a healer. But Nya is different. You can somebody take the pain and share them with other people. A forbidden talent that makes her an outcast - and a danger in the war of healers.
the book:
The young
Nya reflected as best they go by. Since the death of their parents and since then the Geveger have lost the war, there are hardly any good in their lives. And although Nya indeed have the gift to heal pain, it is not the guild good enough to be included - her younger sister does. Only rarely is a
Nya her gift, especially because they can do something forbidden: transfer pain to other people. If anyone would know, would be hunted Nya one and it can really imagine better things than to have to constantly be on the run.
But it is, as it must - one day she needs her special gift to yourself and those to it in his heart to help. And she also crossed the dangerous machinations of the healers guild.

To put it briefly: The Quality of Mercy
I liked it. It can be read quickly, thanks to side relative poverty and yet is an exciting content and provides an interesting idea. straight to the healers and their communities - and the corresponding skills - have fascinated me. The idea is new and well thought out, Janice Hardy is not on already-proven designs, but offers the gentle readers of other ideas. At present it is not to be underestimated - is finally exhausted every subject currently nauseum. I came because
The Healer
just right.

is well chosen in my opinion, the phase of the war. Frequently focus fantasy authors to times before or during the war - but this time there has been shift change.
shadows are detected and great speech wavers and revolutionaries is hardly something to see. But there is poverty and despair, especially dissatisfaction of the defeated Geveger (which also counts Nya). The intruders are not welcomed, but open Aufbegeheren is impossible.

an unexpected aspect is also nyas past. The fact was not always an orphan and poor. Because of the war, it has probably as much more lost than many others. Yet she is confident about her current situation and working hard. Despite everything, she never loses the underlying humor, or their self-irony, which breaks up the story in places.

recalls the guild itself is a bit of Trudy Canavan The rebel - but not so much that it would be noticed disturbing at first glance. Instead, Hardy also uses the standard notions of forming a guild with a medieval flair.

All in all, a beautiful reading experience. I'm looking forward to the second band.
